This house is an excellent example of the Classic Cottage style, popular in the early 20th century in Colorado Springs. Representative features include the hipped roof with flared, overhanging eaves, the hipped roof dormers, the windows with architrave lintel trim, the elaborated entrance, and the porch with classical column supports. Additional features include the shingled walls, double-hung sash windows, stone foundation and paneled and glazed door flanked with sidelights.
Constructed about 1899, the earliest known residents were Charles N. and Cora Sawyer; Charles was a drayman engaged in hauling items about town. Locally significant.
