The South End subarea of downtown
contains a largely intact working class residential
neighborhood. Divided
by
Tejon
Street
, designated as the central spine by the Downtown Action Plan,
it also includes an assortment of commercial buildings,
resources surviving from the streetcar era and buildings
important to ethnic minorities of the city.
Many of the single family residences have been
transformed into multifamily and office uses.
