This 1900 building is associated with the growth in construction of multi-family apartment buildings; this building type was locally described as a “flat.” The emerging popularity of apartments at the turn of the century led designers to favor facades that appeared as large homes or mansions.
Designed by noted local architect Thomas Barber, who also designed City Hall and the Hibbard’s Department store, this building was converted into an office building in the late 1940’s. Locally significant.
