This house is representative of the dwellings that were built in the downtown area during the 19th century, but were subsequently replaced by commercial buildings. Its date of construction is unclear; earlier attempts to date the structure settled on 1874 with an early resident being L. A. Pease, an architect involved with the design of St. Mary's Church at 22 West Kiowa Street. A more recent estimate is that it was built between 1882 and 1890.
The house is Late Victorian in style, with a steeply pitched roof, decorative verge boards and gable ornament, bead board and lap siding, windows sheltered by a shed roof bracketed hood, and a porch with square bracketed columns atop pedestals. Locally significant.
