City of Colorado Springs / City Engineering / Tranportation Projects / Uintah Street Bike Lanes

Uintah Street Bike Lanes

Current Status: City Engineering has completed the design for this Transportation Enhancement (TE) federal aid project. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2014.

Background: This project will provide bicycle lanes along West Uintah Street from 30thStreet to Walnut Avenue.  “Sharrows” will be utilized for a portion of the project limits; between 30thStreet and 20thStreet.  The remainder of the project scope will provide conventional bike lane striping and signing to the east.  This segment of West Uintah Avenue is designated for bicycle lanes in the City’s Bicycle Transportation Plan (1996) and Intermodal Transportation Plan (2001). This project will provide community desired connectivity to the downtown area.
