9-1-1 / Dispatch Audio Request

The Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center is responsible for processing and dispatching of units to all 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for service for both the Colorado Springs Police and Fire Departments.

The Communication Center retains all recordings of incoming 9-1-1 / non-emergency calls and police/fire radio transmissions for a period of three (3) years plus the current year. If your request is older than the retention period it may not be available.

Required Information to obtain a recording:

Please provide at a minimum the date and time of the call and and any addresses associated with the initial call. Please include the nature of the call (IE disturbance, traffic accident, etc..). The more information you are able to provide the better the chance your call can be found. The Communications Center processes in excess of 10,000 calls a month. The request form can be found below.

A citizen can request an audio file by:

Completing, printing, and returning the request form located on this web page, with the appropriate fee to the Records Release Unit. The form can be:

  • Returned via US Postal Service to the address listed on the form
  • Brought to the Police Operations Center and placed in the appropriately marked drop-box in the lobby.

Please note that the form can be picked-up from any Area Command, but for fiscal security purposes , completed forms cannot be turned in at the Area Command Substations.
