Boards, Committees & Friends Groups

Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services is fortunate to have several advisory boards whose members care deeply about our parks, programs and facilities. Below is a listing of our different boards and committees, each group's mission statement, and a contact person should you have any questions or comments regarding that group. We welcome citizens to take part in our public meetings, and are always open to your suggestions and comments.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
As an advisory body to the City Council on parks and recreation resources within the City, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board holds a public meeting monthly to review matters pertaining to the planning, development, improvement, beautification, and maintenance of the public parks, playgrounds, programs, urban forest, recreation facilities and resources.

Friends of Aquatics
Goal: To encourage, support and promote health, fitness, water safety, social and educational opportunities for the citizens of Colorado Springs.

Friends of Cheyenne Cañon
Mission Statement: The mission of Friends of Cheyenne Cañon is to preserve and enhance the natural, scenic and historic resources of North Cheyenne Cañon Park through promoting public awareness, providing educational and interpretive programs, and supporting instructive scientific and historic exhibits.

Friends of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
Mission: To provide volunteer assistance and financial support to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum for its exhibits and programs, the completion of restoration projects and ongoing collection acquisition efforts.

Corral Bluffs Alliance, a Friends Group
Mission: To preserve Corral Bluffs' natural and cultural resources through broadening public awareness, advocating for funding, providing educational materials and programs, recruiting and training volunteers and sponsoring special events.

Friends of Garden of the Gods
Mission Statement: To promote, preserve and enhance the natural and historical assets of the Garden of the Gods for the area's citizens and visitors through interpretive, educational and administrative support.

Friends of the Historic City Auditorium, Inc.
Mission: To support the use and maintenance of the historic City Auditorium for the use of the people, who are the glory of the city and the owners of the City Auditorium.

Friends of Monument Valley Park
Mission: The Friends of Monument Valley Park is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement and improvement of the natural and cultural environment of Monument Valley Park.

Friends of Red Rock Canyon Open Space
Mission Statement: Supporting Red Rock Canyon Open Space through stewardship, education, advocacy, and community involvement.

Rock Ledge Ranch Living History Association
Mission: To support the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site of the City of Colorado Springs. The Association shall help, preserve and enhance the living history program of the Rock Ledge Ranch; encourage citizen and volunteer involvement and participation in heritage programs; and preserve the history of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region.

Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) Working Committee
Mission Statement: To work together, in accordance with the TOPS Ordinance, to guide our City in the prudent acquisition, development and preservation of Trails, Parks and Open Space, thereby creating a legacy for future generations in the Pikes Peak region.
