City of Colorado Springs / Police / Volunteer Program

CSPD Volunteer Header

The Colorado Springs Police Department is looking for people with Integrity, Professionalism, Dedication, Dependability, Honesty and Trustworthiness!

CSPD Volunteers continue to be an important part of the structure of the Colorado Springs Police Department whether it's issuing tickets in Handicap Parking zones, coaching kids in sports, interpreting Spanish for CSPD staff, providing assistance or research or special projects, entering data from police reports, maintaining filing systems, tracking and facilitating the recovery of stolen property, assisting with the apprehension of wanted individuals, moving SMART (trailers that track speed) to locations throughout the City, assisting with photo developing in the crime lab, helping with record keeping and car auctions at the impound lot, etc. Since the late 1970's, the Colorado Springs Police Department has been committed to utilizing the skills of citizens in our City through the volunteer programs.

Our qualifications include:

No felony convictions
Minimum age 18 (some programs require 21)
Six month commitment, typically 4 hours a week minimum

If you are interested in applying to become a CSPD Volunteer, please complete and return the CSPD Volunteer Application or contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (719) 444-7441.

All applicants for this program are interviewed and placed in positions that match vacant Police Department volunteer positions with the applicant's skills and interests. It is a normal part of the Police Department's procedure to perform background checks (records and reference) on the suitability of new volunteers due to the sensitivity of the information with which you will be working.

Please complete all of the following forms and return all to:

Ms. Kathy Rowlands, Volunteer Coordinator
Colorado Springs Police Department
705 S. Nevada Avenue
Colorado Springs, CO 80903
(719) 444-7441

Once all of the necessary forms (1-Application; 1-In Processing Form and 2-Reference Check Forms) have been submitted to the Volunteer Office, an assessment for prospective placement will be made and you will be contacted to schedule an interview with the Coordinator of Volunteers to discuss placement. Please allow two weeks for the process.
