Mission
To increase awareness of our heritage and to enrich the lives of our citizens by preserving and interpreting the cultural and natural history of the Pikes Peak Region.
The Cultural Services Division is responsible for:
The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, located at 215 South Tejon Street, which includes the Starsmore Center for Local History and Research -- housing an extensive archive of historical photographs, books and written materials relating to the hisory of the Pikes Peak Region.
The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum will have new public hours of operation beginning on Friday, May 1, 2009. The Museum's new hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. The Starsmore Center for Local History, the museum?s research facility, will be open by appointment from 12 to 4 p.m. on those days.
Current exhibits at the Museum include Going for the Gold: Pikes Peak or Bust; Ancient Colorado Springs: The Paleontology of Red Rock Canyon; and One Man and His Vision; City Founder, William J. Palmer.
Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, a living history farm dedicated to preserving the historic landscapes, buildings and social history of the Pikes Peak Region from 1775 - 1920. Using living history guided tours and educational programs, the site presents the stories of the American Indians, early pioneers, farmers and domestic servants who made this area their home;
Visitor Services and Interpretation, which includes Starsmore Discovery Center and Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center in North Cheyenne Caņon Park, and Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 30th Street and Gateway Road. | |
