Structure fire Cause/Damage Estimates
The Colorado Springs Fire department responded to multiple structure fires over the weekend. The following is an update on the cause and origin of these fires and damage estimates.
4531 Frost Drive - Fire cause ruled as accidental, Careless smoking. Damage is estimated to be $50,000. A quick response by CSFD firefighters allowed for fast fire control. Eight occupants were awakened by first arriving firefighters who entered the structure and found them still sleeping. All were escorted to safety and no injuries reported. High winds contributed to quick fire spread.
3950 Patrick Drive, Colony Hills Apts. - Fire cause determined to be Accidental, Careless Smoking. 13 Apartments were damaged, 3 sustained heavy fire damage and 10 others sustained smoke damage. Exterior of the building was heavily damaged from fire. Three civilian injuries were treated and released on scene by Firefighter Paramedics and one Firefighter sustained a minor injury in the course of firefighting operations. The Colorado Springs Fire investigations Unit conducted these investigations.
