Rodney Atkins to perform at Olympic Downtown Celebration in a fundraiser for Battle the Blaze Fund

The excitement factor just jumped a big notch for the first-ever Olympic Downtown Celebration on July 27 from 4-10 p.m. as Sports Corp announced today (July 10) that country stars Rodney Atkins and Andy Gibson will play for free at the event to help raise money for the Battle the Blaze Fund. Atkins heard about the Waldo Canyon Fire and wanted to do something to help the community.

Mark your calendar for a downtown party you won't want to miss - the Opening Ceremony from the London Olympics on a giant outdoor screen plus a concert by Aktins and Gibson plus a multitude of interactive sports and games with something for everyone in the family to enjoy - all free!

The night will be capped with a special torch lighting downtown by 1992 Olympic figure skating champion Kristi Yamaguchi (figure skating) and husband Bret Hedican (Olympic ice hockey), who met at the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville and married in 2000.
