Jeff Litchfield City Auditor
The City Auditor is appointed by, and reports directly to, the City Council of Colorado Springs. By reporting directly to the City Council, the City Auditor remains independent and can provide objective analysis of the various operations of the City, including Memorial Hospital and Colorado Springs Utilities. The City Auditor and his staff provide financial audits, attestation services, performance audits, and limited special projects where independence and objectivity are required.
The City Council appointed Jeff Litchfield as City Auditor in June 2004. Jeff is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Finance Officer, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. Jeff has served several municipalities in positions ranging from Internal Auditor to Assistant City Manager. He has management experience in multiple disciplines, including finance, police, public works, parks and recreation, utility billing, human resources, management information services, and other general administrative type activities. He has also provided a variety of auditing and consulting services to various municipalities, school districts, and to Harris County, Texas.
Jeff is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of Local Government Auditors, Government Finance Officers Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, and Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Jeff and his wife, Krista, live in Colorado Springs.
Jeff is fortunate to lead a specialized staff of twelve professionals with very diverse interests. His staff possesses the following certifications: six Certified Public Accountants, five Certified Internal Auditors, four Certified Information System Auditors, and three Certified Fraud Examiners.
