Milton E. Proby Parkway Named Project of the Year

The award was presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon on Monday, January 28th at the Denver Marriot South. Milton E. Proby Parkway is also featured on the cover of the January 2013 issue of the Colorado Public Works Journal.  The Reverend Milton E. Proby championed the civil rights and equality as the pastor of St. John’s Baptist Church on Prospect Street.  He won the NAACP’s “Living Legend” award in 2003 and in 2006 Colorado Springs City Council voted unanimously to honor Reverend Proby by naming the gateway to the Colorado Springs Airport after him.  In addition to improving east-west mobility this project provides green space and trail access to neighborhoods and parks in the area, reduces noise, used 60,000 tons of recycled, crushed concrete as underground aggregate and pavement made with 20% recycled asphalt, and was designed with 200 high efficiency LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights.
