Environmental Sustainability
We live in a time in which increased population growth, high levels of consumption and the desire to feed growing economies have created escalating demands on our resources. These demands impact the health and prosperity of our natural environment, our communities, and our qualities of life. In the face of these challenges, cities and their citizens worldwide have developed a growing concern for a desire to live sustainably. In 2008, the City of Colorado Springs City Council prioritized a vision for our community to grow in a sustainable way as outlined in the City's Strategic Plan. There is opportunity to live our mission to promote a sustainable and healthy future for the City of Colorado Springs through a commitment to environmental excellence, energy efficiency, smart resource consumption, and continual improvement toward reaching our goals.
