Sex Offender Registry Information Header

Why haven?t you posted this information earlier?
Prior to May of 2005 Colorado State law required that individuals viewing sex offender registry information demonstrate a need to know. The information was available to individuals who completed the appropriate form and submitted a fee to receive a sex offender registry report. In May 2005, the law changed to remove the requirement for ?need to know? on specific sex offender records (not all records).

What is included in these reports?
We have two main reports ? Wanted and Adult Felony. The Wanted report contains all adult sex offenders who have an active warrant for their arrest.
The Adult Felony report contains all adult offenders who have committed a felony and have an active status.

We provide the reports in a text only version and a version with photographs. You can see estimated download times under the link for the reports. We provide the reports in Adobe portable document format (pdf). The Adobe reader is a free download for anyone that does not currently have the Adobe Reader on their computer.

The Adult Felony report has two versions ? one is sorted by offender?s last name and one is sorted by offender?s Zip Code.

What is NOT included in these reports?
The Wanted report contains only adults ? no juvenile information ? with active warrants for their arrest. The Adult Felony report contains only adult offenders with an active status who have committed a felony. It does NOT contain adult misdemeanors or juvenile records.

What does ?Wanted? mean?
When an individual has a ?Wanted? status, it means there is currently an active warrant for this individual?s arrest.

What is active status?
Individuals who are marked with an Active Status are offenders who are required by law to register as a sex offender, live in Colorado Springs and are not incarcerated.

How often will the Police Department update these reports? The CSPD will endeavor to post new reports every other week.

What should I do if I see someone from the Wanted List?
You should NOT attempt to apprehend or approach the individual. You should call the CSPD Communications Center at 719 ? 444 ? 7000.

I would like to search for an Offender by name or look for my street name. How can I do this?
You can search the pdf files easily by clicking on the binoculars at the top of the pdf report (right click if using version 6 or 5 of Adobe Acrobat). Then insert the word you wish to search.

Why can?t I copy this information?
The CSPD disabled the ability to copy and paste information from these reports to help prevent misuse or inappropriate dissemination of this information. You can still print and save the reports to your computer.

How can I get more Sex Offender Registry Information?
If you wish to receive a more complete list of sex offenders, you need to complete the Sex Offender Request Form (located at http://www.springsgov.com/units/police/sexoffenderApplicationForm.pdf) and submit the form and appropriate fees to:
CSPD
Attn: Records Custodian
705 S Nevada Avenue
Colorado Springs, CO 80903

What is included in the more complete list?
Adult Felony Offenders
Adult Misdemeanor Offenders
Juvenile Felony Offenders

Currently the more complete list does not include photos. We are working to compress the photos so that they can be included in the CD.
