If for any reason the requesting agency rejects the fingerprint card please bring in your receipt and any supporting documentation you may have received and you will be re-printed at no cost.

Persons applying for a Liquor license through the Colorado Springs City Clerk's Office have paid their fingerprinting fees to the City Clerk. No fee will be charged at CSPD for fingerprinting Liquor Applicants.

Fingerprint Appointments:

All of our fingerprinting is done on a first-come-first-serve basis. We apologize, but we are NOT able to make appointments for fingerprinting.

Time Required to be Fingerprinted:

The time it takes to be fingerprinted depends on the reason you need to be fingerprinted and how many cards you require. On average non-criminal related fingerprints (IE Job Applicants) require 10 to 15 minutes to process.

Registration Purposes/Officer Escorted Fingerprints: It takes more time for us to process individuals who are being printed for criminal reasons or sex offender registration purposes, as we need to gather and verify information from these individuals. On average the processing of criminal related fingerprints and/or to register a subject is between 20-30 minutes per person.

Estimated Fingerprint Waiting Times:

We apologize for delays you may experience in obtaining fingerprints at CSPD. We assure you every effort is being made to schedule fingerprint personnel as efficiently as possible in an effort to minimize your waiting time. There are several factors that could influence your wait time. These include:

In Custody Subjects: Police Officers with subject in custody are given first priority when they bring a subject in to be fingerprinted and photographed. Depending on the type of fingerprinting required and the cooperativeness of the subject these persons can take 10 to 30 minutes to process. Regretfully, we have no way of determining in advance when officers will bring individuals in for fingerprinting, or how many people will be brought in at any given time.

In Custody or Detained Juveniles: These subject are given the same priority as adult in custody subjects.

Availability of Volunteer Staffing: The CSPD utilizes CAPS volunteers to help fingerprint non-criminal subjects. If a volunteer is not available wait times may be increased.

NOTE: For safety and security reasons it is policy to close the criminal print room door to the main lobby while an in-custody subject is being processed.

If you have any questions please contact the Records Section at 719-444-7521.
