  • NEOGOV replaces the City’s PeopleSoft Online Application System. Applicant profiles created in PeopleSoft will not carry over to NEOGOV. Applicant profiles already created in GovernmentJobs.com may be used to apply for City positions. City jobs will always be advertised on GovernmentJobs.com, Springsgov.com, and Connecting Colorado.
  • If you already have a profile on GovernmentJobs.com, you do not need to set up another applicant profile to apply for City jobs. With the new application system, applicants need only one applicant profile to apply for multiple positions with the City, as well as positions advertised on GovernmentJobs.com.
  • Applicants who have created a profile in the City's former PeopleSoft online application system will need to create a new profile using NEOGOV when applying for a City position. Profiles created in the PeopleSoft will not carry over to the new application system.
  • Applicants can search for Jobs by clicking the "Job Posting" link in the information box to the right of this webpage or going to www.springsgov.com > City Jobs, then Clicking the "Job Openings - Apply Now" button. You do not need to register with the new application system to search for jobs. However, you will need to register when you apply for an advertised position, which includes creating an email account. If you do not have an email account, there are providers that offer a free email address such as Hotmail, Gmail, and Yahoo. If you don't have a computer, you may access your email account using a computer at a public library.
  • Applications must be submitted through our new online system by 11:59 p.m. (MST) on the closing date listed on the job announcement.
  • Your application will not be submitted for consideration until you accept its terms and conditions and click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
  • When your application is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed on your application.
  • If you are an individual with a disability who is unable to use our online application system to search and apply for jobs or you are invited to take a skills test, you may request a reasonable accommodation by contacting us immediately at cityrecruiting@springsgov.com or by calling 719-385-5131. This option is only reserved for individuals who require assistance due to a disability.
  • You must select and apply separately for each position. Applications must be submitted through our online application system by 11:59 p.m. (MST) on the closing date listed on the job announcement.
  • When your application is submitted, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed on your application.
  • You are not required to submit a resume unless the posting directs you to do so. Failure to complete the employment application in full, including the entire work experience section, may result in your application not being considered. To paste supplemental information into your application (e.g., cover letter and resume), click on the "Edit Resume" link while creating or editing the application. An application cannot be edited after it has been submitted for a position.

What law violations do I need to disclose on my employment application?

  • Disclose any criminal convictions since your 18th birthday. A conviction will not necessarily disqualify an applicant for employment; consideration is given to the offense and its relationship to the job for which you are applying. Criminal convictions include misdemeanors and felonies (e.g., assault, burglary, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, drug-related convictions, driving under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI), failure to appear in court, larceny, shoplifting, trespassing, etc.). Such convictions may have resulted in a fine(s), community service, probation, and/or jail/prison time. Also, list any plea of "guilty" or "no contest" on your employment application.
  • Do not list minor traffic violations on your application. Examples of minor traffic violations include driving with expired plates, failure to signal, following too closely, improper turn, parking violation, seat belt violation, speeding, careless driving, red light/stop sign violations, and violation of noise control ordinance (vehicle). Examples of violations of law not considered to be minor traffic violations include driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving under the influence (DUI), driving while license is suspended, failure to appear in court, reckless driving, open container (alcohol), and assault with a motor vehicle. Such violations may have resulted in citations, community service, fine(s), revocation/suspension of license, traffic school requirement, etc.
  • Applicants are not required to report convictions that have been expunged or sealed by a court of law.
Must I complete the self-identification section on the employment application?
  • Completion of the self-identification section on our employment application is voluntary. If you elect not to self-identify, you must select the "I elect not to identify" option before submitting your application. This information is confidential and maintained separately from your application. It is used for reporting requirements, which include information requests from regulatory agencies.
  • The City provides equal employment opportunity to all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, national origin or ancestry, gender, age, religious convictions, disability, sexual orientation, or genetic information.
  • Due to the large number of applications we receive and the screening process, it may take up to four business days after the posting closes before you see the status of your application change. Please wait to hear from us by email regarding your application.
  • If you are selected to continue to the next step in the City's selection process, you will be contacted via the email address listed on your application. Our selection process includes, but is not limited to, steps which encompass a review of the employment application, testing (if applicable), interviews, reference checking, drug/alcohol testing, background checks, polygraph testing for positions with our Police Department, and a post-offer medical exam for certain positions.
  • Each job posting lists the eligibility requirements for the position. They are typically in the form of education, experience, licensure requirements, skills testing, and professional and/or technical certification. If you do not meet the designated requirements, you will not be eligible for consideration.
  • An employment offer may be conditioned upon certain background checks/assessments, including but not limited to, successful completion of a pre-employment alcohol/drug test, review of criminal background records, verification of educational attainment, any applicable post-offer medical examinations, and review of work references.
  • Regular full-time: Position requires working a minimum of 40 hours per week and is eligible for City benefits.
  • Regular Part-time: Position requires working 20 or more hours per week but less than 40 hours and is eligible for City benefits.
  • Special: Position that is either full-time or part-time for an interim period and eligible for City benefits.
  • Hourly: A supplemental at-will position that is for an indefinite period of time and receives no benefits except for those required by law.
  • Visit SpringsGov.com > City > Job Interest Cards. You will be taken to the page where you may select the job categories that you would like to receive email notifications when these positions become available. Be sure to click the "Submit Request" button after selecting the job categories of interest to you.
  • Click this link (Colorado DMV) to learn about Colorado's licensure requirements.

The City of Colorado Springs reserves the right to change its new hire selection process at any time, without prior notice.
