File Number: 08-25271

VICTIM:    Renan Garcia Leon, 43 years old

THE CRIME:  In the early morning hours of Friday, August 9, 2008, a  woman reported that she and her boyfriend had been attacked while sitting in the boyfriend’s car in an apartment parking lot, and her boyfriend had been stabbed.  Arriving officers at the apartments near 3900 E. Bijou St found 43 year old Renan Garcia-Leon sitting in the driver’s seat of his green Buick sedan, suffering from stab wounds to his neck and chest.  He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Mr. Garcia-Leon’s girlfriend said they had been talking in the front seat of his parked car when they were approached by two unknown men, who appeared to have walked from the area of the apartment buildings.  The men began arguing with the victims, then demanded money from them.  When Mr. Garcia-Leon refused, a verbal, then physical confrontation occurred, during which one of the suspects partially pulled the victim out of the driver’s seat, then stabbed him in the upper body.  The men fled on foot and could not be located by responding officers.  The suspects were described as: #1) a black male, late 20’s, 5’7”, 150 lbs, with no facial hair, wearing a black hoodie, and, #2) a white male, early 20’s or younger, 5’7”, 130 lbs, no glasses or facial hair, wearing a gray hoodie.
