History of Sales Tax increases and reductions
On November 6, 2012, El Paso County voters approved a County sales and use tax rate increase of .23%. The new rate of 1.23% is effective as of January 1, 2013. For more information on the sales and use tax increase please click here: El Paso County.
On November 6, 2001,
House Bill 1259 lowers the state sales and use tax rate from 3% to 2.9% effective January 1, 2001. For more information regarding the sales tax rate change, see Tax Rate Changes (2000 - 2001) on the Colorado Department of Revenue web site.

The Colorado Department of Revenue web site provides the Sales Tax Generator-- Online Tax Charts that can be used to determine the correct sales tax to charge or pay. Also, the Department of Revenue publishes the DRP 1002: Colorado Sales/Use Tax Rates publication that gives the tax rates for all state-collected and home rule cities and counties. Both the Online Tax Charts and DRP 1002 publication can be downloaded free.
