Cottonwood Creek

The City has contracted with a local engineering consultant, Matrix Design Group, to update the Cottonwood Creek Drainage Basin Planning Study (DBPS), which includes the Cottonwood Creek drainage basin and the S. Pine Creek drainage basin. This study was previously updated in 1994 and 2000. The anticipated completion of this study is late 2008.

The Cottonwood Creek drainage basin covers approximately 19 square miles and flows into Monument Creek just downstream of Woodmen Road. The basin extends northeasterly beyond Black Forest Road.

Several locations along the creek are experiencing significant erosion. The study will consider alternatives for addressing these areas and ways to address increasing flows from new development.
