Public Comments Being Sought on the 2013 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER)

Public comment is being sought on the City’s 2013 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), which will be submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  The report details the City’s 2013 Community Development Block Grant, HOME, and Emergency Solutions Grant activities and performance. 

Drafts of the report will be available from June 7 through June 22, 2014.  Any person interested in reviewing the report may pick up a copy of the draft at 30 S. Nevada Avenue, Suite 604 download here.

Preliminary Findings in the Affordable Housing Needs Assessment

On Wednesday, May 28, the City of Colorado Springs, in cooperation with El Paso County, will host two public meetings to present the preliminary findings in the Affordable Housing Needs Assessment.  All interested persons are invited to attend. The meetings will be held at the following times and locations:

Wednesday, May 28 from 4:30 – 5:30 pm @ Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments, located at 15 S. 7th Street, 80905

Wednesday, May 28 from 6:15 – 7:45 pm @ Hillside Community Center, located at 925 S. Institute Street, 80903

Draft Action Plan Available

Notice is hereby given by the City of Colorado Springs that the draft 2014 Annual Action Plan for the federal block grant funds CDBG, HOME and ESG is available for review and comment through June 4, 2014.  Copies are available at the Housing Development Division office, 30 S. Nevada Avenue, Suite 604, during normal business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday).  The draft Action Plan is also posted online at www.springsgov.com/housing.

The City’s Housing Development Division will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 to provide information on the City’s 2014 Annual Action Plan and proposed use of the federal block grant funds CDBG, HOME and ESG.  The Annual Action Plan is intended to outline the strategies necessary to address the housing, economic and community development needs of low and moderate-income residents.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and to provide input on the proposed use of funds.  The public hearing will be held at the City Administration Building, located at 30 South Nevada Avenue, Suite 102 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

The City of Colorado Springs Economic Vitality, Housing Services is accepting proposals from qualified contractors to conduct an Affordable Housing Needs Study of the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County.  Interested parties are invited to pick up a copy of the Request for Proposal (RFP) at 702 E. Boulder Street, 80903, or download at http://www.springsgov.com/RFPBidRequest.asp.  The deadline for submitting a proposal is 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2013.  If you need additional information, please call Janet Risley at (719)385-6876.

The City of Colorado Springs has developed the proposed 2014 budget for the federal block grant funds CDBG, HOME and ESG in conjunction with the Mayor’s 2014 Recommended Budget. A public hearing/E-Town Hall meeting on the budget will be held on October 17, 2013, from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Avenue.

Citizens are invited to comment on the proposed federal block grant budget through November 10, 2013. Copies of the budget are available at the Housing Services office located at 702 E. Boulder Street. The proposed budget is also posted on line at www.springsgov.com/housing.

Public comment is being sought on the City’s 2012 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), which will be submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  The report details the City’s 2012 Community Development Block Grant, HOME, and Emergency Solutions Grant activities and performance.  It includes housing, capital improvements, planning, administrative, and human service activities.

Drafts of the report will be available from June 8 through June 23, 2013.  Any person interested in reviewing the report may pick up a copy at 702 E. Boulder Street or call 385-5912 to have a copy mailed. The draft report is also available on the City’s website at www.springsgov.com/CAPER.
