City of Colorado Springs / Oil & Gas Committee / Purpose / Mission / Goals



Committee Objectives:

  1. Self-study and information-gathering regarding oil and gas exploration and operations activity potentially occurring in the City, to include evaluating current “best practices” in other municipalities, the state, and across the country.
  2. Engaging and involving the public in the discussion of this activity and possible future regulation or oversight for Colorado Springs land use issues.

Providing legislative advice to the President and City Council on future oil and gas regulatory and oversight policy.

Committee Outcome:  The committee will provide recommendations to City Council for oil and gas exploration and operations policy.  These recommendations could be incorporated into city policy/regulations, as appropriate.
