Cold Case HEader

Victim: Binion
Victim: Demetrius Binion

Case Description

Case Number:08-18528

The Victim:  Demetrius “Meechi” Binion, 18 years old, shot and killed June 15, 2008.

The Crime:  In the very early morning hours of Sunday, June 15, 2008, police responded to a 911 call of a shooting at an apartment at 210 N. Murray Blvd in Colorado Springs.  Officers discovered the victim, Demetrius Donnell Binion, also known as “Meechi”, inside the apartment, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigation revealed that several witnesses were present inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.  They described the shooter as a black male in his late twenties to early thirties, 5'09" to 6'00" tall, with a skinny build and a full beard.  The murder weapon was described as a large frame semi-automatic pistol, black in color. During the confrontation leading up to the shooting, the suspect was overheard asking the victim “where is my money” just before he shot him.  A possible suspect vehicle was reported to be a 4-door sedan, possibly a Mercedes or BMW style vehicle, occupied by two persons, which was seen driving away from the scene at a high rate of speed.

Detectives learned that the victim had recently come to Colorado Springs from Chicago to visit an associate from Chicago who was a soldier at Fort Carson.   Interviews with victim’s friends and associates revealed that Mr. Binion may have been involved in the use and sale of narcotics.

The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
