Case Description

The Victim: Kevin Andrews, 26 years old, shot and killed 11/26/05.

 

The Crime: At approximately 03:40 a.m. on 11/26/2005, officers responding to a disturbance and shooting at 2555 South Chelton Road discovered a young male lying on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was identified as Kevin Jamaal Andrews, a 26-year-old black male.  Mr. Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsy concluded that manner of death was homicide resulting from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

 

The crime scene was a parking lot adjacent to a tavern, a Bar-B-Q restaurant and a recording studio with an after hours lounge. Witnesses related that the victim and a Hispanic male had an altercation in the after hours lounge which was located in the same facility as the recording studio. The altercation moved out into the parking lot and involved several individuals when numerous shots were fired.  None of the witnesses to the altercation in the parking lot said they saw the actual shooting of Mr. Andrews. The investigation into his death remains open.

 

The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
