Case Description

The Victim: Ms. Frances Blackman, 78 years of age.
The Crime: On March 22, 1962 officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department were dispatched to 319 E Bijou St., reference an assault. Upon arrival, the officer contacted the victim Frances Blackman. Frances Blackman told the officer that she was sitting in her rocking chair inside her home when a man entered her apartment without knocking and asked her if she had a room for rent. She told him yes, started to get out of her chair, when the man approached her and hit her on the head with a rock. She described the suspect as a young, white male approx. 5'5" tall, with a thin build wearing a light-colored ?top coat? and possibly a light gray colored hat.
The Investigation: The victim was transported to Saint Frances Hospital where she was treated for a head injury.
On June 2, 1962 at approx. 4:55 pm the victim, Frances Blackman, died as a result of her injuries and this investigation remains open. |
