The Victim: Jean Begin, 75 years of age.


The Crime: On Friday, March 26, 1971, employees of the Alamo Hotel at 128 S. Tejon Street became concerned about one of their long term residents when he did not show up for a social engagement.  They checked his room and found the victim, 75 year old Jean Begin, deceased in his bed.  Responding police officers noted that Mr. Begin appeared to have been struck several times with a heavy object.


The Investigation: Investigators did not identify a motive, nor information on specific pesons who had been in conflict with the elderly victim. 


The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
