City of Colorado Springs / Traffic Engineering / Traffic Operations / Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP) / Canceled NTMP Projects

CANCELED NTMP PROJECTS

As of January 2010, the City of Colorado Springs' Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP) has been eliminated due to the loss of its program funding and staffing resources.

As such, the six remaining neighborhood traffic calming construction projects have been canceled due to both the lack of funds to construct these projects and the lack of staff to oversee their construction:

  • 17th Street - W. Uintah Street to W. Bijou Street
  • Bayfield Drive/Oak Creek Drive - Quail Lake Road to E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd.
  • Broadway Street - 21st Street to Westend Avenue
  • Collegiate Drive/Rockhurst Blvd. - Union Blvd. to Anglo Drive
  • Silent Rain Drive - Allegheny Drive to Centennial Blvd.
  • Trafalger Drive - Summerset Drive to Mirage Drive

Residents in these neighborhoods have been mailed postcards (January 2010) informing them of the NTMP's cessation and the canceled status of their projects.

At this time staff cannot speculate if or when the City of Colorado Springs will be able to provide traffic calming assistance to neighborhoods again given the community's current financial issues.
