The  Victim: William Dieckman, age 32.


The  Crime: At approximately 06:19 a.m. on 11/29/2006, CSPD patrol officers responded to a report of an unconscious man lying next to a bus bench at the intersection of Mallard Drive and Teal Court.  Upon arrival, the officers discovered a deceased male, the apparent victim of a gunshot wound.  The victim was later identified as William Dieckmann, a 32-year-old white male. Subsequent autopsy concluded that manner of death was homicide resulting from gunshot wounds to the chest.


The Investigation: CSPD Detectives interviewed several witnesses to include neighbors but were not able to identify any suspects. The investigation into the death remains open.


The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
