The Victim: The victim David Rector, age 37, was living alone in his apartment at 33 University Apt. 1.  David was the father of two at the time of his death. 

The Crime: On January 28, 1991, Colorado Springs Police Officers were dispatched to 33 University Apt. #1 on the report of a dead body.  Upon arrival officers met with a neighbor who related that he had not seen David Rector for several days.  Concerned about his welfare, he entered the apartment and found the decomposing body of David in the living room.  He had been the victim of a fatal stabbing.

The Investigation: There have been no arrests in this case.

The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
