The Victim: Michael Johnson, 40 years old, discovered deceased on 06/17/1991, a victim of multiple stab wounds.

The Crime: On the morning of 06/17/1991, the body of Michael Johnson was discovered in a field in the 2800 block of International Circle. Mr. Johnson was employed as a driver for a local cab company.  Later that day his abandoned cab was discovered in the 300 block of East Cucharras Street. Autopsy concluded that he was the victim of multiple stab wounds. When he was not driving a cab, or trying to develop his landscaping business, he would spend his weekends in Denver playing rugby in one of the local leagues. Mr. Johnson shared an apartment with two other residents on East San Miguel Street.  

The Investigation: The crime scene and cab were processed for evidence. Detectives interviewed co-workers, roommates, friends and associates. Dispatch records were analyzed to determine Mr. Johnson's fares prior to his death.  The investigation into his death continues.  

The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
