Case Description

The Victim: Darlene Krashoc, an Army soldier stationed at Fort Carson.

The Crime: While two CSPD officers were on routine patrol in the area of 2710 South Academy Blvd., on 3/17/1987 at approx. 5:20 a.m., they  noticed what appeared to be a partially nude female lying in the rear parking lot of the Korean Club Restaurant. The victim was later identified as Darlene Krashoc.

The Investigation: The cause of death was ruled as strangulation. Numerous persons of interest were interviewed and several items of evidence were collected.

With the assistance of CID, all physical evidence was sent to the US   Army Forensic Lab for DNA analysis in 2003. The victim's family and the US Army are still actively involved in this investigation.


The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
