Victim: Marvin Teigen

Case Description

File Number:  83-6282

The Victim: On March 13, 1983 at approximately 2:30pm,  Marvin Teigen  age  38 years old was found inside his room #109 at the Chateau Motel.  He apparently had been beaten and stabbed to death.

The Crime: On Sunday March 13, 1983 at  2:30pm,  officers with the Colorado Springs Police  Department were dispatched to 1201 South Nevada Avenue, the Chateau Motel,  on the report of a dead body inside room 109.    Upon officers arrival, they located  Marvin Teigen lying on the floor;  beaten and stabbed to death.

The motel management  stated that he had been living at the Motel with a roommate identified as Joe for several months.  Joe was out of town out the time of the homicide and was not considered a suspect at that time.

Reports indicated that on the day before,  March 12, 1983, police officers had been dispatched to the Motel at  approximately 0330 hours on the report of a disturbance and fight inside room 109.  Upon officers arrival,  they observed two unharmed male parties through the window.   The occupants refused to open the motel door and no contact was made.

The Medical Examiner  related that the victim had possibly been dead 18 -30 hours before he was found.

The Investigation: As of this date, no suspect(s) have been identified in this case.

The Colorado Springs Police Department Homicide Cold Case Unit is currently responsible for approximately 90 unsolved homicide cases dating back to 1949. CSPD considers a case to be cold if it remains unsolved for more than one year.
