Case Description
File Number: 82-28827 The Victim: David M. McLaughlin, 23 years Old, stabbed to death 12/23/82. The Crime: On 12/23/82 at approximately 11:45 p.m., a witness observed two vehicles stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of South Circle Drive and Sgt. David McLaughlin was stationed at Ft Carson. His company officers and fellow NCOs described him as a good soldier that was well liked. He spent most of the day and early evening with another soldier who was his best friend. This friend had loaned David his car to drive home so that he would not have to hitch hike home in the bad weather. He left alone and was reportedly on his way home. The Investigation: Detectives questioned numerous individuals who had any recent contact with David. Based on the information from the eyewitness, all local law enforcement agencies were on the look out for a 1970's model VW Bug driven by a slender African American male between 20 and 30 years old. Appeals were made to the public for help through local news media. The police followed up on numerous leads, however this investigation remains open. | |
