The Colorado Springs Police Department Training Academy is located in the City of Colorado Springs and is a Nationally Accredited Academy. The CSPD Academy is not a public Academy. It is exclusively for applicants who have tested and been hired for the position of police officer by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
This means that while attending the CSPD Training Academy police recruits are paid employees of the Colorado Springs Police Department and have benefits while attending the academy.
The academy is not a live in academy. The Training Academy typically runs 24 weeks for entry level recruits, and 10 weeks for lateral recruits. During this time police recruits usually work dayshift hours Monday through Friday with some nights and weekends depending on the phase of training. The Academy staff is made up of CSPD Officers, employees and volunteers who are dedicated to training those who will serve our community.
