City of Colorado Springs / Environmental Sustainability / City Green Team / Adopt-A-WaterwayCommunity Green Team Adopt-A-Waterway event
The Green Team has adopted the stretch of waterway that runs along the section of the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail on the east side of Monument Creek north of Uintah extending to where Fontanero would cross.
On Thursday, Aug. 27, the City of Colorado Springs Green Team invited the community to come out and join them for an Adopt-A-Waterway clean-up over an extended lunch hour. Work, sun, fun and food was enjoyed by all as attendees cleaned up along the waterway. With an important conservation twist, the group also recycled as much of the collected material as possible. In a show of community partnership over 50 attendees from eight different organizations, plus the general public, tuned out turned out to pick up more than two and a half truck-loads of trash.
On Saturday, March 6, the City of Colorado Springs Green Team once again invited the community to come out and join them. Over a full truck-load of trash was collected. Mother Nature showed her apprciation with a warm, sunny day. More than 50 attendees tuned out to clean up, share some barbeque and play a game of kickball. The oddest items removed were bike wheels, a garbage cart, and a bowling ball.
Thanks to all who have made these events such huge successes!

Some strange items were found on Aug. 27, including an mannequin leg, skateboard, and this guy.
