Starsmore Discovery Center & Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Centers

Starsmore Discovery Center
Cherished as a local landmark for many years, this stone building was originally the home of the Starsmore family. It was purchased by the City of Colorado Springs and moved to its present location in 1992. It serves as an introduction to Cheyenne Cañon and its beautiful waterfalls, rock formations, wildflowers and wildlife.

Here you will discover activities for guests of all ages. Begin your exploration of the park at Starsmore Discovery Center, where you will find:

  • Fascinating Dioramas and hands-on Nature Exhibits
  • Books, videos, and hummingbird feeders for sale
  • Programs: Guided hikes, children’s nature programs, Golden Prospects, Birthday Parties, Tipi Raising & Ute Heritage Workshop, Junior Ranger Program, Cheyenne Cañon Camp and more!

Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center
This visitor center is nestled at the foot of Helen Hunt Falls in North Cheyenne Cañon Park. It offers an introduction to the natural features visitors will find in the area. Visitors can experience the area through interpretive exhibits, scheduled hikes and walks, and by talking with the informative staff and volunteers on site. The gift shop features Colorado scenic guides and history books, maps, nature books, videos, gift items and drinks.

Helen Hunt Falls Visitor Center is located at 3440 N. Cheyenne Cañon Road. For more information, please call (719) 633-5701 during the summer or (719) 385-6086 during the school year.

Volunteer Training and Enrichment: Volunteer Training Workshops are scheduled throughout the year. Plus a wide variety of Enrichment Events are scheduled. Enrichment Events are open to volunteers and members of Friends of Cheyenne Cañon. Others may attend Enrichment Events by joining Friends of Cheyenne Cañon.
