ELECTION NOTICE

            Pursuant to the Code of the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Notice is hereby given that a General Municipal Mail Ballot Election of the qualified electors residing within the corporate limits of the City of Colorado Springs, will be held in said City on

TUESDAY, THE THIRD DAY OF APRIL, 2007

for the election of the following named officers:

            MAYOR for a term of four years, whose term shall commence at 10:00 A.M., on the Third Tuesday in April, 2007.

            The list of candidates whose names are entitled to appear on the ballot for the office of Mayor for the term of four years is as follows:

            FOUR COUNCILMEMBERS AT-LARGE for a term of four years, whose terms shall commence at 10:00 A.M., on the Third Tuesday in April, 2007.

TERM LIMITS FOR MAYOR

"Shall the Charter of the City of Colorado Springs be amended to provide for term limits for the office of Mayor to read as follows:

City Charter Article II, Section 2-10(a)(2).  Limitation of Terms for Mayor.

Limitation of Terms for Mayor.   Commencing with the April 3, 2007 general municipal election, no person shall be elected to the office of Mayor for more than two (2) consecutive terms, except that any person who is elected to the office of Mayor for two years or less of a term to which some other person was elected Mayor, may be elected to the office of Mayor for two (2) additional consecutive terms of office.  Any person who is elected to the office of Mayor for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected Mayor may be elected to the office of Mayor for one (1) additional consecutive term.  Persons holding the office of Mayor for two (2) consecutive terms may again be elected to the office of Mayor at the next general municipal election after termination of the consecutive terms?"

            No votes will be received by the judges of election unless the person offering to vote shall be at least eighteen years of age, a citizen of the United States, who shall have resided in the State of Colorado and in the municipal election precinct twenty-nine days immediately preceding the election, and who shall also be registered as provided by law.  Any elector qualified to vote in the City at the General Municipal Mail Ballot Election whose name does not appear in the registration books shall have the right to register up to and including Monday, the 5th day of March, 2007.

            When any registered elector shall be absent from the City on the day of the election, such elector may apply to the City Clerk for an absent/replacement voter?s ballot by not later than 5:00 P.M., on the Tuesday immediately preceding the election, i.e. March 27, 2007, if the request is made for the ballot to be mailed; or March 30, 2007 if the voter requests the ballot in person as provided by law.

            All ballots must be in the hands of the City Clerk not later than 7:00 P.M. on the day of election.
