April 5, 2005 Municipal Election
GENERAL INFORMATION
The City Clerk is the designated election official for the City of Colorado Springs. Municipal elections are held the first Tuesday in April in odd numbered years.
Preparation for the Election begins several months prior and includes establishing voting and election precincts, designating polling places for each precinct, and the appointing of all election judges.
DISTRICT COUNCILMEMBER CANDIDATE INFORMATION
ELECTION DATE: APRIL 5, 2005
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a citizen of the United States of America;
- Must be 25 years of age or older;
- Must have resided in the City of Colorado Springs for one-year immediately preceding the election date and must reside within the district applying for.
CANDIDATE FILINGS
To declare yourself as a candidate you must obtain first a Council Candidate packet from the City Clerk's Office. Packets will be made available in December, 2004 (specific date will be made available later)
NOMINATION PETITIONS
To be a candidate for a District council seat, you must get a nomination petition from the City Clerk's Office, 30 South Nevada Avenue, Ste. 101 and circulate the petition to obtain signatures of 50 registered electors residing within the applicable district and the city limits of Colorado Springs. Petitions will be available the first week of January, 2005.
Nomination petitions may be circulated and signed beginning on the 90th day (January 5, 2005) and ending on the 55th day (February 9, 2005)
