The Colorado Springs Police Department recognizes the problem of predatory behavior against children on the Internet. We, along with the Pueblo Sheriff's Department, have formed a regional task force to address Internet Crimes Against Children.
This task force is made possible by a grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP). To this end, we are working closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipline.
We are offering presentations on Internet safety and how to keep from being a victim of Internet Crimes Against Children. To make arrangements for a presentations for your group please call our Internet Crimes Against Children Detail at 719-444-7808, or send an e-mail to Sergeant Dehart
Some activities that involve online Child Sexual Exploitation:
- Online arrangements are made for the exchange of Sexually Exploitative Materials (child pornography). The actual exchange or delivery may occur via the mail, e-mail, IRC, FTP and other electronic means, or even hand-to-hand exchanges. Adults seeking sexual access to children will make arrangements with other adults willing to trade and/or provide children for sexual purposes.
- Adult predators seeking sexual contact with children may establish 'friendships' with children online. Having 'befriended' a child online, the predator will then attempt to arrange a face-to-face meeting with the child for the purpose of sexual contact.

By knowing the dangers of the Internet and how to avoid them, you can help protect children from being victimized. Come and learn what your children have access to on the Internet and who has access to your children.
