Entry Level Firefighter Process - Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  I cannot find a CPAT in my area.  How do I find one?

      A.  Information about CPAT organizations is listed under the CPAT (Physical Abilities Test) site on this 
           website.  Click on it at your left.

Q.  Where can I find information about the testing process?

          A.  The best place to find answers is our website or email Cassie Beckey at 
               cbeckey@springsgov.com.

Q.  Do you hire lateral transfers?

     A.  At this time, we do not have a lateral transfer program.  You may apply for the open
          competitive positions.

Q.  Is there a study guide for the test?

       A.  There is not study guide for the test.  We will be using the FireTEAM test.  You can
            get practices tests for the exam at www.fireteamtest.com.

Q.  Do I have to pay to attend your Academy?

      A.  In order to attend our Academy, you must make in through the entire testing and
           selection process and be selected for hire.  You are hired as a Fire Trainee and paid
           as an employee to attend our Academy.  You cannot attend our Academy without
           going through this process.

Q.  Do I have to come to Colorado Springs to take the test?

      A.  Yes, you must be present to take the FireTEAM test.

Q.  Can I take the FireTEAM test anywhere else?

      A.  No, you cannot take the FireTEAM test any where but in Colorado Springs on the
           dates specificed.  We also cannot accept your previous FireTEAM test scores.

Q.  Do you use DRCOG scores?

      A.  No, the Colorado Springs Fire Department conducts its own testing process.  We do
           not receive information from DRCOG.
