Radio Shop

Primarily tasked with maintaining the operational quality and readiness of the City?s 800 MHz radio equipment and the installation of radios and public safety equipment in Police, Fire and provides critical technical and engineering support to the City Court's video arraignment and audio systems and the City's panic alarm system in the City Administration Building and City Hall.
 
The Radio Shop has several Major Objectives to include:
 
  • Provide excellent maintenance of the 800 MHz Trunking System equipment. Equipment downtime will be minimized, response times will exceed those required by the contract, and preventive maintenance will be completed on schedule.

  • Maintain public safety and public service trunked user and non-trunked wireless voice and data communications networks and equipment with 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week emergency technical support and repair service.

  • As police vehicles are changed out on an annual basis, the affected equipment is evaluated, purchased, reconditioned, and installed on a scheduled rotating basis. The Radio Communications Division will apply all efforts to this annual and continuing public safety project.
