Volunteering

The Mission of Volunteers in Parks is to promote citizen participation in the expansion, enhancement and delivery of quality services to the citizens of Colorado Springs.

The legacy of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services has been achieved through the many generous gifts it has received. Gifts of land, time, ideas, and donated items have helped shape our parks and recreational system. Contributions, given from individuals, groups and businesses have enlarged and enhanced parks and recreational opportunities in Colorado Springs.

Grants are pursued so that special projects receive attention that might otherwise be delayed or unaccomplished. These funds are used to develop parks and facilities, acquire open space, restore historical structures, build trails and provide programs that address or expand opportunities for youth.

Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services utilizes over 6,000 volunteers annually. Want to become a Volunteer? We have beautiful spaces--adopt a park or median! We have interesting places--historic Rock Ledge Ranch, Pioneers Museum and visitor centers! Want to have lots of fun and spend time mentoring kids? Coach youth sports or become a teen volunteer!

The Community Relations office plans new park dedications and coordinates the volunteers used in Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services programs.
