City of Colorado Springs / City Engineering / NewsMilton E. Proby Parkway July 4th Weekend Holiday Schedule
To lessen the impact to the traveling public, construction on Milton E. Proby Parkway will not take place over the July 4th holiday weekend. Work will take place on Friday, July 2, but will be halted on July 3-5, resuming on July 6th.
The $55.4 million Milton E. Proby Parkway project is funded with Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) funds and has an estimated completion date of October 2011. The PPRTA was formed when voters in Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls and El Paso County approved a one percent sales tax in November of 2004 to address infrastructure and transit needs in the region. The tax revenue is divided into three categories: 55% capital improvements, 35% maintenance, and 10% transit. The capital portion of the tax will sunset in 10 years.
