City Council approves reduced business license fees
Tuesday, October 28, 2014

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Springs City Council approved today the second and final reading of a new proposal to modernize, streamline and standardize the processes and fees for general business licenses* in Colorado Springs.  The proposal will pave the way for the creation of an online application and renewal system.

Nineteen ordinances were reviewed and updated in order to make the City of Colorado Springs more business-friendly.   All general business license fees are being reduced, and application requirements are being simplified. Six business license types that are no longer necessary were completely eliminated.  (For complete details, view the City Council agenda documents.)

“Business owners and organizations including Thumbtack.com have recognized Colorado Springs as being a top business-friendly city.  This is another step forward in creating an even better environment for owning or starting a business in Colorado Springs,” said City Clerk Sarah Johnson.

*Liquor and Medical Marijuana licenses are not included in this review or proposal because they involve a dual state/local licensing process with defined requirements and fees by the State of Colorado.
