4955 El Camino Drive, New Horizons Apartment Fire

Colorado Springs, CO– On August 28, 2014 at 09:08am, Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 4955 El Camino Drive, New Horizon Apartments,  Apt. B6. The first CSFD engine arrived within 3 minutes to a working fire; Engine 10 reported heavy smoke from the 2nd floor of the structure and called a “working fire”. Primary and secondary searches were determined to be all clear.

CSFD responded to this 1 alarm fire call with 4 fire engines, 2 fire trucks, 1 heavy rescue,  and 4 support apparatus. There were 25 firefighters on scene working to setup water supply, fire attack, searches, salvage/overhaul and fire investigation. 

The fire was knocked down at 09:14am and fire under control at 10:24am. Fire investigators have ruled this fire as “accidental”.

There were no civilian injuries and 1 minor firefighter injury reported during this fire.

Two residents were displaced during the fire and the death of 1 cat. Firefighters were able to save $1,393,551 in property value.
