Intersection Striping and Pavement Markings Scheduled for Austin Bluffs Parkway Bridge over Cottonwood Creek Project
Wednesday, June 18, 2014
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—On Friday, June 20, 2014, road work will be conducted on the Austin Bluffs Parkway Bridge over Cottonwood Creek project in Colorado Springs.
Cross walk and stop bar pavement markings are scheduled to be installed at the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Woodmen Road from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Friday, June 20th. Flaggers will be on site to assist motorists with navigation through the work zone, which may be intermittently reduced to one lane at the intersection. Motorists are advised to use Powers Blvd or Rangewood Drive in lieu of Austin Bluffs Parkway; and Research Parkway or Dublin Boulevard in lieu of Woodmen Road to avoid possible traffic delays.
Pavement patching and bridge deck joint repairs will continue the following week between June 23rd and June 26th along Austin Bluffs Parkway north of Woodmen Road.
The goal of this ongoing project, funded through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA), is to design and widen the existing Austin Bluffs Bridge over Cottonwood Creek (approximately 250 feet north of Woodmen Road) in order to enhance the north/south connectivity between residential and commercial activity centers. Wildcat Construction of Colorado Springs was awarded the construction contract. Design services were awarded to Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers and Architects in July 2012.
