Structure Fire at 220 N. MURRAY BLVD.

Colorado Springs, CO – On April 14, 2014 at 8:20 p.m., Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire at Shannon Glen Apartments, 220 North Murray Blvd.  The first CSFD engine arrived within six minutes to find smoke and flames. Firefighters immediately began search and rescue efforts andfire suppression.

CSFD responded to this single alarm fire call with a total of 14 fire apparatus including three engines, three trucks, Heavy Rescue and HazMat. Approximately 52 CSFD firefighters and support personnel were on scene. 

Two civilians were treated for minor smoke exposure on scene.  The fire was contained to one apartment, but residents from 12 apartments were displaced because of smoke and/or water damage.

The CSFD estimates that $2,632,435 of property/content was saved; reducing the overall loss to $410,843 in property/content.

The fire originated in the bedroom area of a single apartment. The cause is still under investigation.

Colorado Springs Fire Department reminds citizens to install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home, including the basement. Test smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button.
