Structure Fire at 1128 E. Uintah Street

Colorado Springs, CO – On December 30, 2013 at 12:14 p.m., Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire at 1128 East Uintah Street. The first CSFD engine arrived to find smoke coming from a vent pipe on the roof and from an open back door.

CSFD responded to this single alarm fire call with 6 apparatus including two fire engines, two fire trucks, hazmat, a rehab crew and heavy rescue. Approximately 30 firefighters and support personnel were on scene and conducted an aggressive interior attack on the fire.

Two occupants of the home were able to evacuate the home on their own before fire crews arrived. There were no injuries reported, but the two people were displaced from the home.

The fire was accidental and started in a wall of the basement utility room.

It is estimated that $132,010 of property/content was saved and $13,976 in property/content was lost from the fire.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department wants remind citizens to make sure to utilize the services of a licensed contractor when doing any repair work or renovations within the home.
