American Airlines, American Eagle and Snowball Express to Fly Nearly 1,800 Children and Spouses of Fallen Military to Dallas/Fort Worth
Wednesday, December 11, 2013
All aboard! For a special group of military families, December 12 won’t be an ordinary Thursday. Instead, nearly 1,800 children and parents or guardians will embark on an all-expenses-paid journey to Dallas/Fort Worth for the eighth annual Snowball Express. While many look forward to the holiday season with excitement and anticipation of times with family and friends, the holidays can be difficult for those who have lost a loved one – especially the families of fallen military.
In an effort to bring some enjoyment and healing to these families, American Airlines and American Eagle, via the American Airlines Kids In NeedSM program, annually partner with Snowball Express to fly these children and their parents or guardians to American Airlines’ hometown – Dallas/Fort Worth – for a few days of fun and friendship. Snowball Express is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring hope, joy and new memories to the children who have lost a parent on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001.
As the official airline of Snowball Express, American Airlines is providing a majority of the air travel. American and American Eagle aircraft will make their way across the country, departing from numerous cities to pick up Snowball families.
While in Dallas/Fort Worth, the families will participate in a series of activities including a private performance by Academy Award-nominated actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band; a special performance at the LOOK Cinemas and the Snowball Express/Texas music Project Talent Experience and much more.
All of us are truly grateful to our military servicemen and servicewomen, and to their families for the sacrifices they have made to protect the freedoms we all hold dear.
You are invited to attend the send-off party at Colorado Springs Airport (COS) for families departing from the Colorado Springs area.
