Structure Fire at 717 N. Union Blvd.

Colorado Springs, CO – On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 4:58a.m., Colorado Springs firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire of an unoccupied building under renovation at 717 N. Union Blvd. The first CSFD engine arrived within six minutes to see significant fire and smoke coming from the building.

CSFD responded to this single alarm fire call with seven firefighting apparatus, including the heavy rescue unit, hazmat unit, and support personnel. There were approximately 30 firefighters on scene working to extinguish the fire externally because they were not able to enter the building.

One firefighter was treated for minor injuries and was immediately returned to duty. There were no other injuries. The fire resulted in a total loss of the property.

The cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
